NATIONAL WOMEN’S HALL OF FAME
Road trip to Seneca Falls, New York!
The National Women’s Hall of Fame, housed in an old Knitting Mill, indeed is a place worth visiting. According to its website “it uses the stories of its 293 inductees to inspire and engage all who visit.” But, as we explore that repository of the stories of heroic women we will also be honoring the women who had actually worked at the knitting mill. Some of us might be tempted to imagine and write their untold stories or at least dedicate a poem!
Stewart Park
Stewart Park, located on the south end of Cayuga Lake is not only an expansive flat ground dotted with grand willow trees; it has four tennis courts, a golf course and the Fuertes Bird Sanctuary known for hosting a large variety of birds. More than that the Park was the site of Wharton studio which produced about 30 silent movies in the early 20th century. The old studio is now being converted to the Wharton Studio Museum; it will tell the story of Ithaca’s role in the history of American film making.
Ithaca Farmers Market
You’ll find a full spread at the market with something for everyone —a variety of eat-on-site and take-out entrées, baked goods and beverages to delight every taste, as well as fresh produce, free-range eggs, meat and cheese, specialty foods, and fine art and crafts. You can picnic on-site, or pick up fixin’s to go for a party or picnic.
The market is located in a beautiful park on the Cayuga Lake waterfront, selling local products from an award-winning covered pavilion.
